Ida Cook (1904-1986) and her sister Louise Cook (1901-1991) were two Englishwomen who seemed destined never to stray from their quiet London suburb and comfortable civil service jobs. But they developed a passionate interest in opera and during the 1930s, the sisters visited Germany using their true fanaticism for opera as a cover for their frequent travel. They helped 29 Jews to escape from the Nazis.
